Hi, I'm Blue! I'm a 10 year old Husky/Beagle mix looking for my forever home! Don't let my age fool you- in my case age really is just a number! I'm still very active and I love playing outside! I'm a very sweet girl! I do have some special medical needs that a well managed with medication (thyroid and seziures). I'm currently in a foster home and my foster mom said I am doing well! Because of my medication, I do need to go outside to potty every few hours so I would do best where someone is home where someone is home with me a lot. My foster mom said I love playing ball and for how old I am , I can jump pretty high to catch it. I'll roll you the ball and wait for you to throw it. I'm very playful! show less

Cruiser has spent the last 12 weeks in our new training program at the E.C. Brooks Correctional Facilty with 8 of our other dogs. The dogs recieve lots of individual attention, training, and TLC! Cruiser has been a star student and is ready to find his forever home! Here is what his handler had to say about him: "I am a 4-year-old Pit Bull/Lab mix who is looking for a family that will finally give me a home I can call my own. I am a big lovable giant who has been raised in a shelter. I love to be hugged, snuggled and my adorable uniquely crocked ears rubbed. I am great with people! I love to play fetch and tug of war. I also like to run and explore. I am still learning how to walk on a leash and get very excited to be outside so I might try to tug you a bit. I am a very good sweet boy and have learned many new cues in the MDOC program." show less

Hey-hey-hey! My name is Elvis, since I've got that trademark sneer. I was transferred to the shelter recently, so the staff is getting to know me still. They do know I love to lounge in the sun, I get along with other cats and I like to wander up for attention. show less

Hi, I'm Mase! I'm a 2 year old Catahoula mix looking for my forever home. I spent some time in the Ross Correctional Facility training program, where I learned many new cues from training. I am a sweet dog that absolutly loves balls and finding toys. I have a little quirk where I will dance backwards with the toy between my paws. I walk well on a leash, and would do best in a home where we can be active together. I do get worried about "my stuff" at times, so I need an experienced home without young children or other dogs. show less

Monique (now called 'Via') is a young Shepherd mix who was transfered here with her puppies from DACC earlier this spring. She is currently in a foster home! "Monique (who has been responding to Via with her foster family) is a sweet girl who loves to relax in her bed. She loves her bed, but she's gotten bolder and now lies on the couch when her foster mom and foster dog-brother aren't around. Via is still pretty timid and jumpy when it comes to being pet, but you know she likes you when she nuzzles her head into your hand and gently licks your nose! She's a good walker, although she has a great eye for small creatures and likes to try to chase them! Via plays well with her beagle-corgi foster brother, loves squeaky toys, is a good eater who especially likes peanut butter and hot dogs, and she has the cutest habit of jumping excitedly into her bed when it's time to go for a walk! Via does tend to growl at men, she can be fearful of them. She doesn't like the car and baths aren't her favorite, but she's a great sleeper and pretty quiet. show less

Hi, I'm Reese! I'm a 6 year old German Shepherd looking for a special home. I was adopted from Muskegon Humane last year but was returned due to a change in my owner's housing situation. I am dog reactive and I need to be the only dog in the home. Another family member moved into the home with their dog and we were not able to get along, so I was brought back to the shelter. I'm a very sweet and loving boy with my human friends, I'm just not fond of other dogs. I will also need a fenced in yard. The dog trainer here at the shelter is helping me with what she calls "counter conditioning and desensitization"- she says this will help me start to associate other dogs with good, happy things instead of bad, negative things. She is also teaching me other new behaviors (like 'touch', 'walk away' and eye contact) that my new family can use to help me focus on them while we are out for walks instead of other dogs that might pass by. She said that I might not ever be able to be buddies with other dogs, but she can help me be more comfortable and make life a little easier for me- and my new owners! She also said she will help my new family even after they adopt me! Or if they live far away, she can help them find a trainer in their area so they will always have support! If your looking for a big, loveable, goofy guy to be your one and only dog- I might be the right fit for you! Put in your application! show less
